Taxes & Compliance for Table Rock Lake STRs

Table Rock Lake STR taxation depends on which jurisdiction your property sits in — properties span Stone County and Taney County across multiple municipalities, and the tax stack changes meaningfully across district boundaries. Missouri's 4.225% state sales tax applies to short-term lodging under RSMo § 144.020.1(6). On top of that:

  • Southern Stone County Tourism District (covers Lampe, Cape Fair, Reeds Spring, Kimberling City, Branson West, and most southern Stone County rural areas): A new 3% Stone County Tourism Tax (RSMo § 67.665, voter-approved April 2025, collections began October 2025) stacks on top of the 2.250% Stone County sales tax — combined burden ~9.475%.
  • Indian Point Village: Excluded from the Southern Stone County Tourism District; remains in the Branson/Lakes Area TCED, which adds 1% — combined burden ~7.475%.
  • Galena: No city tourism tax; outside both the TCED and the Southern Stone County Tourism District — lowest burden in the corridor at ~9.475% (4.225% state + 2.250% county + 3.0% Galena city sales).
  • Hollister (Taney County, southern lakeshore): A separate 5% city transient-guest tax stacks on top of city/county sales taxes — combined burden ~13.35%.

Important compliance note: Airbnb and Vrbo automatically collect the 4.225% Missouri state sales tax, but neither platform remits the local Stone County 3% Tourism Tax, the Branson/Lakes Area TCED, or the Hollister 5% transient-guest tax — hosts must file these directly with the issuing jurisdiction. We handle collection, reporting, and remittance of all required taxes on your behalf for properties in our portfolio.
